We’re celebrating the 35th anniversary of one of RTRFM’s longest running programs, Jamdown Vershun, with a tropical party showcasing the sounds of Jamaica!
35 Years of Jamdown Vershun kicks off at 8pm on Friday, 13 February at The Budgie Smuggler, as part of Fringe World 2015. The event will feature the best in local reggae, dancehall, dub, ska, rocksteady, calypso and 2-tone.
Taking to the stage for this major local music milestone are Benn Madz & Miss Eve, Cera Kymarni & Lioness Movement, The Isolites, Papa Flava, Souljah Kaptivez and The Weapon Is Sound.
Jamdown Vershun presenters DJ Simba, Mumma Trees and General Justice & Jah Wisdom Sound will be on the decks ‘til late, pumping out island riddims, old skool classics and fresh new tracks from the Jamaican music scene.
RTRFM’s Jamdown Vershun program first appeared on the station in 1979 and has consistently brought Perth listeners classic and cutting edge sounds from Jamaica, as well as Jamaican-influenced sounds from both local and international artists.
Jamdown Vershun takes to the airwaves every Saturday from 5-7pm on RTRFM 92.1.
