Globetrotting performance, art, music, fashion and new media provocateurs Chicks on Speed roll into to FAC this April with a typically genre-defying and mind-bending show.
To celebrate, RTRFM will be broadcasting Artbeat live from the historic grounds of the FAC, Friday April 4, from 9am to 12pm. With Peter Barr and James Hall at the mic, expect the usual Artbeat fun, with interviews with Chicks on Speed, a live set from The Floors and an all round gander at Fremantle’s cultural greatness. We’re also inviting thirty lucky listeners to come along to the outside broadcast and go on a special preview tour of the exhibition with Chicks On Speed. To enter email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also on Friday, is a free public opening party at 6:30pm, for the Chicks on Speed’s exhibition Scream. An immersive and interactive exhibition, SCREAM features a giant sculptural structure on which Chicks on Speed project a visually chaotic collage. The exhibition also invites audience members to use iPads within the gallery which enable them to compose and mix audio visual scenes which are projected into the gallery space in real time. It’s colourful, noisy, sculptural, cheeky and downright fun.
In addition to SCREAM, Chicks on Speed will launch their latest studio album ARTSTRAVAGANZA at FAC on 5 April accompanied by electro drummer Erica Lewis. ARTSTRAVAGANZA was created by Murray-Leslie and Logan in collaboration with leading contemporary artists, activists and producers including Julian Assange and Yoko Ono.
Time: 9am - 12pm
Venue: Fremantle Arts Centre Inner Courtyard
