Q & A
How did you become involved?
I started doing Rhythm Trippin’ on Saturday nights monthly with Devo. There was always four crews doing the show because of the hours, one for every week of the month. Devo was moving away a little from D ‘n’ B and getting more into breakbeat so I came on board and we started doing his the show together.
How long have you been with RTRFM?
Since sometime in about 2001.
What do you enjoy most about presenting?
Moving to Full Frequency had been quite a change from doing the late night shows. You have an opportunity to be much more interactive with the listeners, talk a lot more and condense more styles of music into a small space of time. So at the moment, those are the points that are probably most enjoyable.
Strangest experience at RTRFM?
I’m not sure about strangest, but definitely the craziest experience was the last Radiothon. Devo and I were doing Rhythm Trippin’ and we got the okay to make a big deal out of our show. So we got about 30 people to come into the studio and do the show with us, it was quite crazy going to air and having 30 people screaming loudly over the mics. Not quite sure if it made for good radio but it was pretty funny.
Favourite RTRFM program?
Apart from Full Frequency, I always tune into Soulsides, Jam Down Version, El Ritmo and I listen into Rhythm Trippin’ on a Saturday night when I’m going between gigs.
What do you do in real life?
I spend my weeks working as a techy, developing remote monitoring and tracking applications for the Oil & Gas and Mining industries and my weekends spinning records in places like the Beat Suite and Ambar.
You can hear Micah give a wrap of the weekend and give us a sneak preview of Monday Full Frequency on Breakfast with Barr after the 8am news…
