Ryan Sandilands

Ryan Sandilands is kicking the role of the ‘young one’ at RTRFM. Currently in his late teens he runs with the ethic of ‘yes!’ as it usually leads to something worthwhile.

Being lame is what he does, playing with a musical collective in various lounge rooms, studying when he gets the chance and designing the perfect mixtape for a lover or brother.

Representing Youth at RTR FM he kicks the love on Youngblood and when he gets the chance helps expose you to the best new tunes on Out To Lunch or make you a designer mixtape for your trip home on Drivetime.

Q & A

How did you become involved with the station and your program?
One fateful day I was jamming with friends up the road and then some inner urge made me put down my guitar and strut up to RTR and sign my life away. Then over time I was encouraged by a very patient Sensei Cutter to do the broadcasting course, so I did. Somehow I got highly involved in Youngblood from raising my hand at a meeting and spontaneously usually get a call to fill in for Out To Lunch or Drivetime, I love that phone call.

How long have you been with RTRFM?
January 2008

What do you enjoy most about presenting?
When I play that brand new crisp track and I get that phone call, in a very happy amazed eager voice of “Dude, who is this?!”

Strangest experience at RTRFM?
Everyday spent there is unusual, hence the appeal. One of the best moments was presenting Out To Lunch with Sensei Andrew Ryan as he forwarded his knowledge on to me. Sure he is mental but goddamn it works!

Favourite RTRFM programs?
Out To Lunch, Youngblood, Rock, Rattle and Roll

What do you do in real life?
I am currently a student majoring in Mass Communications & Music Production.
