J Murray Cleary (AKA Cowboy J)

How did you become involved?

Through bands & volunteering at Radiothon. I became Station Manager for 3 1/2 years during which I was roped into many shows and now I’m just happy being a regular.

If stuck on Mars, what five albums could you not go without?

Pretty easy – the 4 CDs, or 15 records, or however many individual MP3s that make up Nuggets – Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era, 1965–1968.

What is the best thing about being involved with the station?

Playing tunes you would never get to play elsewhere. You can get extreme, noisy, quiet, introspective or just balls-out and give listeners something they may have not heard before (hopefully).

What is the best thing about being involved with the station?

As Station Manager I can’t even begin to say how many strange things. Never a dull moment at RTRFM.

If you could present a show that is not your own, which show would it be? Why?

Sunday Morning Coming Down as I’m listening to a great episode of it right now.

What do you do in real life?

Grow things, play guitar and ponder.
