Presenting: Lusophone Beats
Music is my first love. I grew up surrounded by music, lots of rock from my older brothers, like the Stones, Genesis or Pink Floyd, French and Brazilian music from my Father, and Fado, the true folk music from Portugal, from my mother. Later I built my own musical personality, under the influence of so many talented artist I came across during my lifetime. I hope I can pass you some of that passion during my time at RTRFM.
How did you become involved in the station?
A friend, who knew my passion for music, invited me to join a group of music lovers to present beats from Portuguese speaking countries to the Australian community, in a radio show. The rest is (or will be) history.
If stuck on Mars, what five albums could you not go without?
Personally I thought the least convincing thing about The Martian was that NASA could send Matt Damon 10,000 lines of code to reprogram his Mars Car™ but not update his iTunes. In the same situation I’d bring:
- Pink Floyd – Dark Side of the Moon
- Pink Floyd – The Wall
- U2 – Joshua Tree
- David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust
- Group Novo Rock – In Vivo
What is the best thing about being involved in the station?
First, in a personal level, is the possibility to take my passion to another level and share with others, a great love is never completed until you share it.
Second, the people that I already had the opportunity to meet are amazing.
Finally, the way the station is conducting the all process, with the training and the allowing us to practice in the studios makes all the difference.
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you at RTRFM?
So far nothing special, but once during a practice session I panicked a little because the computer mouse stopped work and I thought I did something really wrong. Rookie’s nerves…
If you could present a show other than your own, which would it be and why?
I am so busy now preparing everything for Lusophone Beats that I have no idea… Can you ask me that in 6 months, please?
What do you do in real life?
I thought this was real life… Am I on the Matrix when I go to studio? I usually work as bartender, and spend my free time on the Kite.
