Morkel like good tings, Morkel like the best tings – it’s a matter of fact. Right, Morkel like to wear the best clothes, he like to drive the best cars, he like to listen to the best music. So where ever there is a DJ that is happening, the Morkel Man, he’s gonna be there…
How did you become involved in the station?
I met Will Backler at a house party one night in North Perth and after a chat about dance music he asked if I wanted to do a mix on Basscheck. Safe to say I was pretty stoked. I loved the experience so much I knew I wanted to get more involved with RTR.
If stuck on Mars, what five albums could you not go without?
The Blackeyed Susans – Welcome Stranger
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Murder Ballads
Bob Dylan – Highway 61 Revisited
Big L – Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous
Skream – Skream!
What is the best thing about being involved in the station?
Being able to make people’s day/night a little better than it was, by sharing the music I love. Getting emails and phone calls from listeners who are enjoying your show is a great feeling. I love giving shout outs!
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you at RTRFM?
Intriguing conversations with late-night callers, there are some real characters out there.
If you could present a show other than your own, which would it be and why?
Full Frequency – So many amazing DJ’s have presented this show over the years. If I can ever bring as much joy to the people of Perth as Rok Riley does every week, I will die a happy man.
What do you do in real life?
Study journalism and shake a few cocktails.
