My background as a lighting technician directed me into a position where I was constantly programming drag shows, putting me into the thick of drag culture. Soon after, I gained my residency at Connections Nightclub where I mix House and Disco (and sometimes Techno when I’m feeling cheeky!). Working in the club exposed me to many LGBTIQ groups, and I soon found myself playing tennis at Loton Park, and attending Bears Perth events.
This year has seen me start to DJ in Sydney’s gay scene with gig’s at Bear Bar as well as Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2015.
How did you become involved in the station?
There was a Facebook shout out calling for presenters. How could I resist applying?
If stuck on Mars, what five albums could you not go without?
- Nile Rodgers presents The Chic Organization – Up All Night
- Radiohead – OK Computer
- Gatecrasher – Wet
- Sasha – Airdrawndagger
- Tom Moulton – Sandpiper 1974 – Fire Island (mixtape)
What is the best thing about being involved in the station?
Meeting people that are from a completely different world than mine.
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you at RTRFM?
During a crazy storm, lightning hit the station. It scared the crap out of us, and there was this weird hum coming through the desk.
If you could present a show other than your own, which would it be and why?
Disco Science. Disco is such a diverse genre these days, which is a perfect platform for me to be able to share my music (because I could never just mix the same stuff). Also, it’s strong historical link with queer culture means that it is something of great interest to me.
What do you do in real life?
Listen to lots of music and look at Facebook…. Oh.. and I’m an Audio/Visual/Lighting Technician, DJ, and Trainer/Assessor.
