I’ve been on RTRFM as a co-host of Ambient Zone since 2007. It’s a real joy finding new music and artists from around the world to share with our listeners. When not behind a desk – that’s both day job and radio DJ desks – I’m an avid engager of the electronic, experimental and noisy scenes in Perth.
How did you become involved?
I remember turning to John Cage’s “Lecture on Nothing” on Difficult Listening. That late night listening/cramming session turned a long time listener into a first time caller.I was invited to play the Ambient Zone team in 2007.
If stuck on Mars, what five albums could you not go without?
- MD – Appelsap (Merck)
- The Necks – Drive By
- Triosk meets Jan Jelinek – 1+3+1
- Radiohead – OK Computer
- They Might Be Giants – Flood
What is the best thing about being involved with the station?
The Ambient Zone crew get-togethers where we discuss musical trends and the bad old days.
If you could present a show that is not your own, which show would it be? Why?
I like the idea of presenting a Siamese Dream show, probably with a focus on the mid-90s demoscene. Growing up in the country away from an urban scene directed my ears to sounds of the low-bandwidth variety.
What do you do in real life?
