Presenting: Snooze Button
I have fingers in so many pies that I need more fingers. Essentially, I want to be an octopus with hands. You can find me hanging around RTR, the Cool Perth Nights office or at pretty much any Perth venue that doesn’t have sucky people OR that sells alcohol (to deal with the sucky people). I go home sometimes. I manage bands that I love more than all the cats in the world. I wish I had more $s so I could eat avocados for every meal or someone finally shares with me the locations of all the avocado trees in North Perth.
How did you become involved in the station?
I first started as a band manager, pestering the office for interviews with my artists. The first time stepped inside the office was volunteering during the 2015 Radiothon. Then I did some work experience in the office a few months later and I never wanted to leave! I think it has something to do with the colour red ? … I’m a big fan.
If stuck on Mars, what five albums could you not go without?
- Fiona Apple – The Idler Wheel
- Neutral Milk Hotel – In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
- The Dresden Dolls – The Dresden Dolls
- Rabbit Island – Oh God, Come Quick
- Sarah Blasko – As Day Follows Night
What is the best thing about being involved in the station?
I love it when people phone in while I’m presenting. Playing the music is only one piece of the puzzle and knowing there are people out there listening is a weirdly intimate yet wonderful feeling. Also, whoever refills the kitchen lolly jar at least once a week is a deadset legend. Thank you from the bottom of my hangry Up Late heart.
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you at RTRFM?
Nothing too strange has happened to me in there yet which is UPSETTING. Please facilitate a strange thing.
If you could present a show other than your own, which would it be and why?
I love doing the odd Out To Lunch because it’s a great reason to trawl through hundreds of new releases for prep. It’s also at a time when people are traditionally awake so that’s also helpful.
What do you do in real life?
Manage bands, busk as a living statue, play piano… Come to think of it, RTRFM is kind of the realest part of my life right now.
