The best of Jazz from earliest recordings to present-day sounds.
The most rounded program of the genre on Perth’s airwaves, brings you styles as diverse as new orleans, dixieland, swing, be-bop, hard-bop, post-bop, west coast, cool, latin, vocal, small group, big-band, and lots in between. Hear how the music grew from blues and ragtime; travelled through the jazz age; the swing era. Learn of the cradles of jazz; the Crescent City and Chicago; the crucible of Kansas City; the ultimate destination of New York; then the rise of Los Angeles; the way that the musical joy spread around the world; and how the innovators took it in new directions. Naturally, each Presenter has a slightly different perspective on the music they love—thus the overall content varies from week to week, with many local W A and Australian artists featured—all emanating from a straight-ahead base. So, get your jazz fix here every Saturday Morning of the year.
Presented by Samm Coad-Ward.
Sharing with you today, a busy and exciting show. Visting this morning at the Studio to chat about their 'Fringe Festival shows' currently on here in Perth are special guests Libby Hammer and Jessie Gordon. Should be fun as they will be sharing a teaser of their 'Anotomically Incorrect Gentlemen' show, and playing their Ukulele's to entertain us. Also I will be debuing the newly released album 'Paris in the Rain' by Australian songstress Sarah McKenize. I do hope you enjoy!
