Poetic and Unspoken are debut albums by the ensemble Sinbad’s Caravan.
The concept for this project began in 2012 when we discovered that our original music and poetry could be performed together with great effect by combining spoken voice with instrumental soundscapes.
Poetic features spoken-word poetry recited by the poet Chris Harlow and accompanied by original music performed by the composer, guitarist Steve East, with guest performances by flautist Bec Moroney and violinist Erik Kowarski.
Some of the compositions were inspired by and composed to accompany the poems whilst others reflect and augment the mood and meaning of the poetry.
Unspoken is the instrumental companion album to Poetic. There are additional harmonies and melodic, structural and textural development in some of the arrangements. Steve East’s compositions explore contemplative and evocative moods as songs without words. A bonus track is included.
All live musical performances are included in our podcasts with the express permission of artists, who reserve all other rights in their music. All music used in our podcasts is licensed under an APRA Community Broadcasting license agreement.
