Recloose – Get there tonight
This magic number by third generation Detroit house music pioneer Recloose is one of my all time favourites. Breaking the four-to-the-floor mold of the Detroit house scene, in line with some of the early broken beat records coming out of the UK around the same time, Get There Tonight stands out as an original and timeless piece, and is still as heavy on the dance floor now as it was back in 1999 when it came out.
Interestingly, as I discovered when I pulled out the record to write this feature, it features saxophone samples by the great Colin Stetson! It was released on Carl Craig’s Planet E label on the Spelunking EP, which is certainly worth checking out in it’s entirety. Also check out the beautiful dubbiness of: Absence.
Recloose will be playing a show in Perth alongside fourth Generation Detroit house musician and rising star, Jay Daniel, in just a few weeks’ time for the big Methods of Movement first Birthday celebration: https://www.facebook.com/events/1584231505150802/1590392667868019/
