Since its beginnings in the 1970′s, Ambient music has enjoyed an increasingly relevant and important space in popular music. Stemming from the experimental and Krautrock scenes, and thanks to the development of electronic instruments and the work of early innovators such as Brian Eno, Klaus Schultze and Basil Kirchin – Ambient Zone is your Sunday night chill out session, incorporating all of the various sonic tangents that make up Ambient music.
From lengthy organic drone-pieces to electronically focused music that draws from minimal House and Techno with a spattering of beats to keep things interesting, Ambient Zone highlight the use of space, texture and a minimalist approach to melody and rhythm. Plus, once a month, Ambient Zone commemorates “A Day In the Year Of”, focusing on extended pieces that over the course of a year create a single day’s worth of programming.
