If you’ve ever wondered about the influence of online comment, here’s an insight.

New laws that were introduced in South Australia from January 6 this year were reported exclusively by the Adelaide Advertiser.

The new law required internet bloggers, and anyone making a comment on next month’s State election, to publish their real name and postcode when commenting on the poll.

The response from readers online – literally thousands of comments, not only blew the comment system but caused an embarrassing backdown for the Attorney General Michael Atkinson.
