Sheffield’s Warp records have a reputation for releasing ground-breaking, challenging and genre-defying music that stands the test of time. The latest release on the label, Los Angeles, by Flying Lotus fits perfectly with other Warp producers such as Harmonic 313 and Prefuse 73. Carl Craig - Sessions 1 and 2
- Author
- Paul Lindsay
Carl Craig Techno producer and legend of the second wave of Detroit Techno scene alongside legendary contemporaries such as Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin is back with yet another mix CD of the classic Detroit sound. Carl Craig Sessions is a double CD mix of some Craig’s finest work under a variety of different monikers such as Innerzone Orchestra, Paperclip People, and 69. The rest of the tracks Craig has turned his hand to remixing them especially for the CDs. Tracks come from artists such as X-Press 2, Beanfield, and fellow icon Theo Parish. Sessions 1 (Disc 1) sees Craig never straying far from the classic minimalist Detroit sound and by the time he drops the unreleased version of Paperclip People’s “Throw”, Carl Craig has you eating from the palm his hand. Craig varies to great effect the pace and style of the mix as he captivates the listener with his selection and mixing wizardry. more »
