A Life in the Sun

Friday 23rd December / posted by Vishnu

A Life in the Sun is a new compilation celebrating Australian surf music of the 1960s and 70s.

Compiled by Sydney author and surf music authority Stephen J McParland, the collection brings together music from artists like Tamam Shud, The Sunsets and Richard Claptop.

The title A Life in the Sun comes from the 1966 Paul Witzig film of the same name.

RTRFM’s Vishnu spoke with Stephen McParland, Tamam Shud’s Lindsay Bjerre and director Paul Witzig to reflect on the compilation, the genesis of surf music and its development over the last 50 years.
