Artists Support Asylum Seekers

Monday 24th February / presented by Ed Williams

There have been many divides in the community regarding asylum seekers, but now there has been a more recent divide between the artists and Sydney Biennale.

It has come to the attention of artists that Sydney Biennale has taken sponsorship support from Transfield, a company that provides services at detention camps on Manus Island and Naura. Many of the artists believe that this sponsorship money is unethical and morally wrong, hence some have taken action by protesting and writing an open letter to the Board of the Sydney Biennale outlining their outrage of the deal with Transfield.

Gabrielle De Vietri is among the artists who have signed this open letter, and talked more with Ed Williams about this issue.
