Campaign To Combat Homophobia In Professional Sport

Monday 14th April / posted by Chris Wheeldon

Major Australian sporting leaders are coming to together to make a stance against homophobia in sport.

The world-first agreement comes ahead of the Bingham Cup, the annual world cup of gay rugby, to be held in Sydney later this year.

The cup is named in honour of Mark Bingham, a renowned rugby player fundamental in starting two premier gay rugby clubs in the US.

He would certainly be proud to be associated with a campaign with big and ambitious intent.

Bingham Cup President and former player Andrew Purchas spoke to Marie Bout about the issue earlier today.
