Cancer ‘Survivorship’.

Thursday 4th May / posted by Chris Wheeldon

One in two Australians are diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, and in WA alone there’s almost 12,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed each year.

The aim of cancer survivorship is to promote optimal recovery after a diagnosis and/or treatment, by improving clinical care, communication and education, and fostering research.

This also means identifying tools and instruments for good survivorship, ensuring equality of access to good survivorship across age, geographical, cultural and linguistic barriers; promoting awareness across society.

The Cancer Council’s Seng Sengsourinho and Stephanie Lamb spoke with Paul Hunt about survivorship, and how important it is for those diagnosed to have a plan in place going forwards.
