Designing to Delight

Two contestants from Channel 9’s 2013 renovation game show The Block - Sky High splattered a white bedroom from floor to ceiling, including the doona cover, with paint – they claimed it was Jackson Pollock inspired.

It wasn’t.

Judge and established interior designer Neil Whitaker called it a crime scene.

It’s that subjective quality of design that means its makers are at once artists and technicians.

Evan Reeves, the mind behind award-winning city art gallery/restaurant VENN, knows this.

So do Beth George and Nic Brunsdon, who head studio space Post and are responsible for turning old spaces throughout the city into flourishing creative hubs and studios.

All three joined us to look at the shaping power of design – the good and bad ahead of the 2013 DIA Design Forum…
