Digging in at Roe 8

Wednesday 8th February / presented by Tanya Bunter

A team of archaeologists has uncovered 25 artefacts across 20 small test pits in just two days in Beeliar Wetlands, the site for the controversial Roe 8 project.

Fiona Hook and Joe Dortch have led the dig.

Their discoveries challenge findings by the Department of Aboriginal Affairs, whose investigation consisted of two officers walking over the site and digging just one single 20 centimetre deep hole.

Archeologist Fiona Hook and Whadjuk Noongar elder Corina Abraham joined The Mag with Tanya Bunter to discuss the archaeological and historical significance of the site.
