Farewell Helen

Wednesday 11th March / posted by Chris Wheeldon

Last Saturday, 7 March we said an on-air goodbye to long-time RTRFM presenter, Helen Matthews.

After 10 years presenting Saturday Jazz, and some time on air before that in various guises, Helen has decided to hang up the headphones and become a Saturday morning listener.

Helen has been involved in the Perth jazz scene for a number of decades, both as a performer and an organiser of the Fremantle Jazz Festival. She still occasionally performs at The Ellington Jazz Club and the odd Radiothon show when prompted by a listener.

We’ve enjoyed listening to Helen share her amazing jazz knowledge on RTRFM for the last decade, and we wish her all the best as she sits back and relaxes with her dog, Macey. Thank you, Helen!

Helen’s Saturday Jazz co-presenters, Dick Hurn and Warren Kimble, have created a short tribute to honour her time on the station. Have a listen.
