FITTER | HAPPIER: Cervical Cancer

Thursday 26th October / posted by Chris Wheeldon

On this week’s segment of FITTER | HAPPIER the topic we discussed was Cervical Cancer.

Lanny Hoskin, the Coordinator of Health Promotion within the WA Cervical Cancer Prevention Program at North Metropolitan Health Services, and she came on the show today to discuss the facts, figures, and statistics surrounding the issues around Cervical Cancer; including how to prevent and / or detect early signs of cancer cells by seeing your doctor for regular pap-smears.

The Cervical Cancer Prevention Program will also soon be bringing in an improved way to screen a female’s Cervix in order to detect early signs of Cervical Cancer. This will ultimately be more beneficial to the individual because it means they only have to show up once every five years, as opposed to the usual two-year waiting period currently being advised to wait in between screenings.
