How can we Help Australia’s Immigration & Refugee Education?

Immigration and refugees is seen a hot topic in Australia...but did you know approximately half of Australia’s refugee intake are aged between 15 and 19 years of age? It is this age bracket in which experts argue education must act as a high priority

...So in what ways can we (a) help these refugees gain access to a better secondary and tertiary education, and (b) how can we help them obtain it?

Jaya Dantas hails from Curtin University’s School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine; she is also a Professor in International Health. For three years Professor Dantas led an office in a Learning and Teaching research project - helping in identifying the range of challenges this unique group of students face in achieving further education....RTRFM's reporter Ben Davidson spoke to Professor Dantas in hope of better understanding some of these challenges faced by refugee students in pursuing their higher education, and what we can do to help them...
