Human Rights Day ensures No One is Left Behind

Saturday is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and also the start of the The Annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

This years theme is titled “Leave No One Behind” and ends on Sunday 10th of December – which is also Human Rights Day…With numerous armed conflicts around the world, it is critical for the global community to reaffirm its commitment to leaving no one behind in humanitarian response, including persons with disabilities.

This all comes to light after a survey was recently conducted by The United Nations consisting of 87 countries. What was found was that between 2005 and 2016; almost 1 in 5 women (Between 15 and 49) said they had experienced physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner…

Simone McGurk, State Member for Fremantle and the Minister for Child Protection, Women’s Interests, and Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence, spoke with RTRFM’s very own Danae Gibson about the campaign…
