Into the Light, Out of the Shadow

Friday 4th November / presented by James Hall

Mark Colvin is a broadcasting icon, with a career spanning more than four decades, the ABC journalist reported on wars, royal weddings and everything in between.

While witnessing some of the most world-changing events in his time, he contracted a life-threatening illness in the field and discovered his father was an M16 spy.

With such great story fodder, he decided to write it all down.

Light and Shade – Memoirs of a Spy’s Son is the story of a father waging a secret war against communism while his son comes of age and embarks on a career as a foreign correspondent.

Mark Colvin spoke to James Hall on Artbeatabout his journey in writing and living this compelling story.
