Hachiko Day is a celebration of canine companionship which kicks off on April 8.
Hachiko was an Atica dog who waited every day for his master to return from work at a train station in Japan. One day in 1925, the professor died suddenly from a brain hemorrhage and never returned. But Hachiko still waited every day for nine years for his master to return.
To commemorate the loyalty of Hachiko, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is performing a two week season utilising Japanese paper craft puppetry to tell the story of this much loved dog.
Spare Parts Artistic Director Phillip Mitchell joined Annie in the studio to talk about the show
