Norman Blake and Joe Pernice Live on RTRFM

Thursday 24th January / posted by Chris Wheeldon

As part of the Perth International Arts Festival, RTRFM will be bringing you the live performance of Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub, BMX Bandits) and Joe Pernice (Pernice Brothers, Scud Mountain Boys) as The New Mendicants. Plus the rockabilly sounds of Dirty Beaches.

From 8pm, we cross live to the Festival Gardens to bring you this one off performance of these two era-defining geniuses.

In a captivating performance marked by back-porch banter and sublime popsmarts, Blake and Pernice delve into each other’s hefty back catalogues. From the ebullient harmonies of 90s Scottish power-pop heroes Teenage Fanclub, to seminal alt-country twang of Scud Mountain Boys and triumphant guitar-pop anthems of the Pernice Brothers – this is an impressive, nostalgia-packed, and thrillingly live songbook.

Tune in from 8pm Friday 8th February 2013.
