On The Green

Wednesday 2nd September / posted by Chris Wheeldon

With the Canning by-election looming in the coming weeks, all eyes are on Perth.

Following the death of Liberal member for Canning, Don Randall, the seat is now being contested in the upcoming by-election. Although Mr Randall held the seat with a healthy margin, political analysts are predicting a swing against the government.

The Greens are hoping to gain some of these votes with their candidate Dr Vanessa Rauland – a Curtin University Lecturer.

To help promote the campaign, Greens Leader Dr Richard Di Natale is in Perth.

Having only stepped into the leadership position earlier this year, Senator Di Natale is already showing a new form of leadership in the Greens Party.

RTRFM reporter Phoebe Phillips spoke to Senator Di Natale about the upcoming Canning by-election and his more ‘mainstream’ direction for the Greens.
