In the 1980s and Fremantle was awash with colour, specifically; Orange.
Folks draped in the striking colour were on the streets and on our minds, calling themselves Sannyasins, but known as ‘Orange People’. The group attracted the attention of the media and generated intense public interest, particularly in their sexual practices.
All is being explored and revealed at Fremantle Arts Centre in an exhibition, Orange: Sannyas in Fremantle, co-curated by Ric Spencer and Sohan Ariel Hayes.
Along with artist Joe London they joined Artbeat.
