Politics v Sports: No one wins

Wednesday 22nd November / presented by Tom “T-Bone” Reynolds

The question of whether politics should ever have a place in sports has been asked ever since the ancient Greeks founded the Olympics and has featured prominently in the Australian media recently in part due to the performance of a pro marriage equality song by American rapper Macklemore at this years NRL grand final. Calling in to the studio was Kieran Pender, author of article ‘When Sports and Politics Collide’ for the Australian Book Review, to discuss the controversial topic and shed some light on why human rights are often ignored for the sake of sport.
