Tackling the Community Cup

Wednesday 17th June / presented by Tanya Bunter Caitlin Nienaber

If you pitted musicians against media in a game of Australian Rules Football, who do you think would win? Pretty soon, you won’t have to wonder anymore, with the arrival of the Reclink Community Cup on WA soil.

The Reclink Community Cup has seen musicians and other industry types strap on the boots and take the field in Melbourne for the last 21 years for Reclink Australia, an organisation that uses sport and the arts to enhance the lives of the disadvantaged. It attracts crowds of thousands, raises money for charity, and now it’s OUR turn to have a kickaround.

This year will see the match come West for the first time, with The Bandgropers, a team comprised of Perth musicians, to take on The Newshounds, a group of community media and music industry figures, at Bassendean’s Steel Blue Oval on Sunday, 30 August.

RTRFM will be picking sides alongside local music and media organisations Monster Management and Morse Code PR.

RTRFM General Manager Jason Cleary and Monster Management’s Jake Snell joined Caitlin Nienaber on Breakfast with Caitlin to talk about the upcoming match.

Reclink Australia CEO John Ballis and Melbourne’s Rockdogs captain Nick Cooper also had a chat with Tanya Bunter about the event on The Mag.
