Fitter Happier: The Injury Prevention Unit

Thursday 21st September / presented by Chris Mason

Each year there are many preventable injuries and many avoidable deaths occurring across the state, but injuries and deaths don't happen purely by chance...they can be predicted & prevented; through a range of coordinated programs and services which base themselves on a solid foundation of evidence.

Department of Health's own program, Injury Prevention Unit (IPU), focuses on developing state-wide strategies to promote health, as well as direct funding to priority areas not covered by other agencies. Such strategies and programs are addressed and delivered by organisations like Injury Matters, KidsafeWA, and The Royal Lifesaving Society of W.A.

IPU member Russ Milner joined the studio today to tell us more about these programs and how they plan in working to downsize the number of preventable injuries, accidents and deaths across Western Australia.
