The Other Election

Monday 16th September / presented by Rewi Lyall

What would your speech be like if you were elected PM? Would you give a stirring Yes We Can to a field of supporters, or clam up like Jaymes Diaz in a media scrum?

Well, as part of the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience, 600 Indigenous high school students are giving it a crack. Their brief is to give an address as if they had just been elected Australia’s first indigenous PM.

The best three win a chance to fly to Canberra and relay their ideas to the real PM, Tony Abbott. The top ten speeches are chosen today, and to talk us through what they are, we’re joined by Aime spokesman Reece Harley.
