Understorey: EPA Part 2: Prospecting for Change

Wednesday 7th December / presented by Elizabeth PO’ Adrian Glamorgan

Understorey goes along to the office of Environmental Protection Authority Chair Dr Tom Hatton, high above the Perth streetscape, to learn more about the Board’s policy directions, particularly as they relate to exploratory fracking, gasfields, uranium mining and nuclear proliferation, mine rehabilitation and the involvement of traditional owners.

When it comes to making recommendations for new mining projects, the independent Environmental Protection Authority responds within a complex state regulatory mosaic, including a Department of Mines and Petroleum that attends to environmental standards while remaining dedicated to Western Australian mines global competitiveness.      (Photo: E.
