Understorey: Independent WHO?

Wednesday 23rd October / presented by Elizabeth PO’ Adrian Glamorgan

At Cottesloe Beach on Saturday anti-nuclear campaigners joined the global day of recognition that “Fukushima is Here”. As it happens, Australia is also “there” – Australian uranium now contaminates significant parts of Japan’s main island.

So where is the World Health Organisation? Speaking with Alison Katz in Geneva, (and taking up the conversation begun last week with Robert Stone), Understorey investigates the big question: why does the International Atomic Energy Agency whose job it is to promote nuclear energy, have so much say over what appears in World Health Organisation reports? Is there under-reporting and narrow-reporting on the damage caused by nuclear accidents and exposure to low-dose radiation?

Or to put it another way – “Fukushima is Here, Australia is There, but W.H.O. is Where?”
