Understorey- Inquiring Into Uranium

Wednesday 19th March / presented by Elizabeth PO’ Adrian Glamorgan

International safeguards did not prevent “wilful negligence”, “overconfidence” and “mismanagement” at Fukushima – a nuclear power plant in a technologically advanced, democratic nation.  With Fukushima workers protesting at maltreatment and high radiation risks at their own plant, and WANFA Aboriginal voices Della Rae Morrison and Charley Caruso warning about the cancers and environmental damage caused in their own communities, Dave Sweeney from the Australian Conservation Foundation calls for a full inquiry into uranium, focusing on the poor economics of the industry.

It’s never made sense he says – but now the nuclear industry isn’t making dollars either.
