Understorey: Where Sheep May Safely Graze

Wednesday 19th July / presented by Elizabeth PO’ Adrian Glamorgan

Understorey brings more from Jo Vallentine, former nuclear disarmament senator, about growing up on a farm at Beverley, with stories about shearing, sheep-dipping, and agricultural diversification. It is an account of environmental degradation, animal welfare issues, wealth, and Aboriginal dispossession, but it also highlights the energetic contribution of girls, the inventiveness of farmers, and a glimpse of Western Australia's social history. Understorey continues its sheep track of enquiry this month, with the second episode of Shepherds and Sustainability.
