As you can imagine, running a radio station 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, comes with a few overheads, electricity being one of the big ones.
RTRFM have been looking into the viability of installing a solar electricity system on our building to help alleviate this cost. We are committed to staying in our current Mt Lawley premises but, as costs increase, we need to look closely at how the station runs.
This project is expected to take between 6-12 months to complete and this donor drive is the first step in implementing this.
We will keep you updated via our website and on radio as the solar panels take shape and RTRFM switches to a greener more sustainable future.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible and we welcome anything you can spare between now and June 30 2013.
On behalf of the Board, staff and presenters of RTRFM.
How is this different to Radiothon?
This is very different to our annual Radiothon drive. Radiothon is when we ask you to subscribe and donate to the station to allow the station to run for another year. Radiothon brings in around 30% of RTRFM’s annual turnover and allows us to continue to operate for the year. This donor drive is to raise funds towards a specific building infrastructure project that we would not otherwise be able to afford.
What do you get in return?
First and foremost, you get the good feeling of supporting your station to be better, be greener and be smarter. You get to be part of implementing an important station resource and you will be kept up to date on how the donation drive and the overall project is moving along.
You get to keep RTRFM here in Mt Lawley and one lucky donor that donates $25 or more, wins their daily bread for a year from the very tasty new Mt Lawley bakehouse, Mary Street Bakery.Donate
