Donor Drive 2015

Thank you for helping RTRFM raise $5K to transform our outdated kitchen and green room!

RTRFM would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the 2015 Donor Drive.

Thanks to the contributions of 78 generous donors, RTRFM reached our $5,000 target and will soon commence our highly anticipated kitchen and green room renovation!

Check in on the project’s progress here, where we’ll be posting updates and photos as it happens.

Remember, if you donated $25 or more, you could be the lucky winner of our Kitchen Party with Kitchen People prize!

Tune into Breakfast with Caitlin on Friday, 19 June when we announce the winner.

About the Project

RTRFM are seeking to upgrade the station’s kitchen and green room, so that presenters, volunteers, staff and special guests can enjoy a cuppa in a comfortable environment.

RTRFM currently has over 250 volunteer presenters, over 50 office volunteers and 9 core staff members. All of which use our existing kitchen and lounge facilities (pictured right), 24/7.

The kitchen and green room area was installed a long time ago and requires renovation. We would like to install more storage and bench space, some new furniture and kitchen fittingsWi-Fi and give the whole room a lick of paint.

The space can be completely transformed with relative ease and only $5K. Installation is expected to take 1-3 months to complete.

This Donor Drive is the first step towards our ultimate goal. All it takes is for 200 people to donate $25 dollars each. Donations over $2 are tax deductible and these can be made online, in person or by phone: (08) 9260 9200.

We will keep all donors updated on the project’s development both online and on-air, and share the final results with you once completed.

RTRFM welcomes any and all contributions to this project!

Help us to provide a wonderful space for our many RTRFM presenters and volunteers.

With thanks,

Jason Cleary
General Manager
On behalf of the Board, staff and presenters of RTRFM.

How is this different to Radiothon?

Radiothon is RTRFM’s annual 10-day fundraising drive every August, where we ask listeners to support The Sound Alternative by subscribing and/or donating.

  • Donations are one-off contributions of an amount of your choosing. No matter how small or large, all donations to RTRFM are gratefully received. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
  • Subscriptions are a longer-term commitment to RTRFM. Subscriptions are annual from the date of purchase. There are a variety of subscription packages available – for more information, head here or contact our office on (08) 9260 9200.

Revenue raised during Radiothon makes up 30% of our annual operating income, thus ensuring the station’s survival and allowing us to broadcast for another year.

Conversely, a Donor Drive is to raise funds for a specific infrastructure project that we would not otherwise be able to afford.

In June 2013, RTRFM listeners helped the station go green by raising $10k towards the installation of solar panels. This project was completed in June 2015.

What do you get in return?

First and foremost, you get the good feeling of giving back to your community.

You will make a significant difference to the lives of the staff and volunteers that are the heart of RTRFM.

You will have a sense of ownership of the station – which ultimately belongs to the community.

Everyone that donates $25 or more will automatically go into the draw to win a party in your kitchen, with local band Kitchen People, a mystery RTRFM DJ and tasty beverages!

Congratulations to our winner, Tracey Z of Yokine!
