If you would like to make an official complaint about something you have heard on air please contact manager@rtrfm.com.au.
You can tune in on your radio right now – we’re at 92.1 on the FM band. You can listen on digital radio at RTRFM, or you can stream online.
Everything! We play a tremendous amount of local music and a great number of our presenters are involved in Perth’s myriad local music scenes.
If you stay tuned to 92.1 for long enough, you’ll also hear Ethiopian throat singers, Italian dance-floor bangers, American smooth jazz standards and transcontinental otherworldly ambience right beside new tracks from Perth bands past and present.
Unlike a lot of other commercial, community and public radio stations, RTRFM is not playlisted. What that means is the station does not dictate what songs should be played and when – instead we trust our presenters to play the most exciting and interesting music they’re unearthing.
Every week we run a local and RTRFM feature album alongside our Sound Selection which features 14 of the most exciting tracks to come through the station that week, as selected by the Music Coordinator.
Yes! All our shows are available for re-streaming shortly after broadcast. Our archive goes back four weeks. Head to an individual show page for a list of available broadcasts.
We use AmRap’s services for tracking our playlists. Head to the show page to find out what tracks were played during a program, or if in doubt, check out the program grid to see what shows are on air and when.
We require a digital copy of all submissions. To submit your music digitally, email our Music Coordinator Will Backler (music@rtrfm.com.au) and ensure your submissions includes the following:
A download link to your clearly labelled music (i.e. Artist – Song Name.wav) that’s at least a 320kbps MP3 or a WAV file, with EPs and albums as a zipped folder. Services such as dropbox, google drive or wetransfer are perfect. Please also provide in your email submission:
We also love premiering songs on-air and videos via our website and social media – please submit music 2 weeks ahead of its release to ensure there is time for it to be listened to and considered when pitching premieres or interviews before launches (see interviews section below).
We love physical copies of finished albums and EPs, however, these must be accompanied with a digital submisison via email as described above. This is to ensure the widest number of presenters have access to your music, greatly increasing your chances of airplay, as compared to a few physical copies.
If you’re a local band, you can pop into the office at 642 Beaufort Street, Mt. Lawley and drop off your albums. Otherwise, send your CDs (4-5 copies is ideal) to our Music Coordinator:

For an interview on Breakfast with Taylah or music content anywhere on the RTRFM program grid, get in touch with Breakfast Presenter Taylah Strano at tstrano@rtrfm.com.au or our Interviews Coordinator Will Backler (music@rtrfm.com.au) with the vital information – your band or event, a link to your music and info about your upcoming gig/release.
For an interview on The Mag or Artbeat, contact our Talks Producer Danae Gibson at dgibson@rtrfm.com.au.
Please note, due to the volume of interview requests we receive, we can not accommodate everyone and sometimes your idea or event just doesn’t fit the show.
Due to the high volume of music sent to RTRFM and the large amount of requests for feedback, we are not able to reply to every single person wanting specific and detailed info on why their music may or may not be played on air.
Contact our Music Coordinator Will Backler who will forward your submission on to the relevant presenters.
Email gigs@rtrfm.com.au with the name of your gig (if relevant), the lineup, the venue and the date. We need at least 7 days notice to list your show in the gig guide.
You can also include your gig on our online Gig Guide.
Maybe! Get in touch with our Events & Operations Co-ordinator Chris Wheeldon at cwheeldon@rtrfm.com.au. Send all the things you’d naturally send to someone booking a gig – a little info about your band, a link to your music and links to your social media profiles. We put on heaps of events every year and we’re always on the lookout for the best bands in Perth to play our gigs.
Our lifeblood! Like other community radio stations – RRR in Melbourne, FBi in Sydney, 4ZZZ in Brisbane – our biggest financial support comes from our listeners in the form of yearly subscriptions.
Our big yearly subscription drive is Radiothon which runs every August, but you can subscribe to RTRFM year-round. Head to the subscription page for more info.
If you love RTRFM and you want to get involved, a subscription is the best way to support the station. We make it worth your while – an RTRFM subscription grants you discounted entry to all our events (or free entry if you’re a gold/platinum subscriber!), eligibility for on-air giveaways, discounts from our business sponsors and heaps more.
Yes! We offer a whole heap of different subscriptions, including Band, Concession, Family, Platinum & Gold packages.
Email Admin (admin@rtrfm.com.au) to update your subscriber details.
We offer a slew of sponsorship packages for businesses, events, bands and campaigns which include on-air spots, giveaways, banner ads, event sponsorship and more. For more info, check out the Sponsorship page or get in touch with our Development Managers:

By listening! That’s the first step. If you’re already tuning in, thank you!
If you’d like to help us stay on air (it costs a lot to run a radio station!), you can consider:
We’re always looking for more hands-on-deck, be it in the office or at our events – we couldn’t put on gigs like In the Pines without the help of our volunteers. If you’re interested, email our Operations & Coordinator Chris Wheeldon at cwheeldon@rtrfm.com.au and tell us how you’d like to get involved.
