Understorey: Climate 2018 ~From Ice Core to IPCC

Evidence of climate change in the Arctic is apparent from satellite pictures and on the ground reporting.  But how do we build a picture from before human records? Understorey travels to Canberra to speak to climatologist, Associate Professor Nerilie Abram about how she researches tropical coral and polar ice cores to reconstruct past climates, across a range of environments and time periods. These “proxy records” become shared evidence through a peer review process, ultimately integrated into a massive multidisciplinary process called the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, on which Nerilee plays a special role.
