Jaxon Eastabrook

Born and raised in Perth, I’m currently finishing an Arts degree, but spend every spare moment with music. I’ve got a penchant for discovering new tunes, whether it be online or in the record store and am passionate about purveying my finds through DJing. I put on a night called Din Daa Daa with two close pals that helps me and other local music aficionados share their sonic explorations!

How did you become involved in the station?

I had always been a fairly frequent listener of RTRFM but it wasn’t until a few mates brought the radio training course to my attention that I really thought about getting involved. I had been DJing around town a bit and getting involved in radio seemed like the natural progression to further contribute to the Perth music scene and community.

If stuck on Mars, what five albums could you not go without?

Tough one! Most music I listen to is released in EP form, and my favourites change frequently. Album wise however, these are the ones that have been most influential to me as a person and music lover over the years:

Madvillain – Madvillainy

MF Doom – Operation Doomsday

Neil Young – Live at Canterbury House 1968

Theo Parrish – First Floor

The Jammers – The Jammers

What is the best thing about being involved in the station?

As well as being an amazing opportunity to share music I love with the open minded folk of Perth, presenting on the station is also a great way to keep me on my toes musically, it keeps me digging and exploring to try make my shows the best they can be!

What is the strangest thing that has happened to you at RTRFM?

Nothing strange to occur in the studio yet…

If you could present a show other than your own, which would it be and why?

The main ones would have to be Rok Riley’s legendary Friday Full Frequency, which I was lucky enough to host in her stead recently. The other big one is Underground Solution… Its been going for over 25 years and has been integral in influencing the underground music scene of Perth.

What do you do in real life?

When I’m not doing music stuff I’m a Student. About to finish an Ancient History & Classics degree.
