I have been an avid listener of various shows on RTRFM for years. Through my love of street latin dance, lots of travelling and mixed cultural background myself, Global Rhythm Pot definitely spoke to me.
How did you become involved in the station?
I was part of a samba de gafieira performance for a Global Rhythm Pot event at Mojos. There, I met Nic K and became friends. One day he commented that I must have heaps of music through dance and asked me to join him one Saturday morning. Nervous as hell, I said yes and had an absolute blast! Then I did the radio training in June 2016, and dived in!
If stuck on Mars, what five albums could you not go without?
- Slave Grigoryan and Al Slavik – Continental Shift
- The Tea Party – Alhambra
- Michael Franti – Love Kamikaze
- Quantic with Combo Barbaro – Tradition in Transition
- Marisa Monte – Baralhinho Bom
What is the best thing about being involved in the station?
The sense of community, being surrounded by people passionate about making and sharing music of all genres.
What is the strangest thing that has happened to you at RTRFM?
Radiothon! That is a wild time to get introduced to the studio. 6 DJs in the studio, prizes overflowing over desks, music music everywhere. I haven’t been here long enough for anything really strange but that was certainly memorable and heaps of fun.
If you could present a show other than your own, which would it be and why?
Plucked Strings. I am a sucker for acoustic guitar in almost any style.
What do you do in real life?
Wellness accountant! Music keeps me sane, mostly.
