  • This week's local feature album is "FANM:WOMAN" from @gracebarbemusic
Six years since releasing the acclaimed Welele!, Grace Barbe is back with her third full-length record, FANM:WOMAN.
The new album sees Barbe continue to craft uplifting, genre-bending compositions, influenced by her native Seychelles as well as sounds from Mauritius and Madagascar, heavily featuring elements of "seggae" (the irrisiteble combination of Jamaican Reggae and Mauritian Sega), while also incorporating elements of modern Western pop arrangements, while lyrically, Barbe expresses her self using a combination of Kreol, English, French and Malagasy.
Fanm means "Woman" in Kreol, and FANM:WOMAN is truly a beautiful celebration of women not just in the music industry, but in life.
