We won another award! 🎉🎉
.
We’re pleased to announce that Talk the Talk is the recipient of this year’s Talkley Award.
.
This award is conferred every two years by the Australian Linguistic Society, for the individual or group who has done the most to increase public knowledge about language.
.
The other nominees were the blog Language on the Move, and the podcast Lingthusiasm. That both LotM’s Ingrid Piller and Lauren Gawne from Lingthusiasm have been our guests in the past year just shows that we’re not each other’s competition — we’re all in a community that helps each other, loves talking about language, and works to end linguistic discrimination and ignorance. So this award is for all of us.
.
Thanks to the Talk the Talk team, and that includes you the listener, who keep on bringing us your best.

  • You don't always get it right the first time... RTRFM presents Distant Murmurs 2019 has had a date change and we have shifted everything to the @rosemount_hotel so get your permanent marker out this time and scrub out the old date in your diary.

RTRFM’s local music festival Distant Murmurs returns for its fifth year at The Rosemount Hotel on Saturday 19 January 2019!

But, luckily this does mean @boat.show @moonlighteraus and @thespringpeaks_ have been added to the lineup!

Plus the amazing @lulucmusic , out of Melbourne via Brooklyn and signed to Sub Pop Records the duo will play a very special set in 459.

They join a whole array of local acts including @ah_trees , @bad_friends_fun_band , @homebrandtheband , @physicalrelease, @newnausea, @ryan_beno, The Shakeys, @thelimbsperth , @sssegue , and @woolymammothperth
  • RTRFM presents Postcards From The West, an audio-visual collaboration with the State Library of Western Australia happening at the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia this Saturday, the 15th of December.
Orphans sit in that wonderful world of weird but beautiful music. Made up of artists from the Tone List stable, Orphans push the boundaries of contemporary classical music while still holding onto elements of post rock and pop music.
We are not sure what to expect, it could be all improvised but it will be wonderful.
Postcards From The West is bound to be a truly unique sensory experience that is not to be missed.
