Nomadic Rhymes

Tuesday 12th March / posted by Martine Linton

tripl M.U.M stands for “Mad Monster Messed Up Mustafa”…and like a lot of rappers, its something he come up with scribbling on a notepad in Year 9 maths class. A time during the golden age of hip hop when every ethnic kid alive was buzzing that they could finally be a part of a culture that was made up of a struggle familiar.

His love of old school hip hop permeates his own productions where he combines the pops and crackles of old records, tapes, and live recordings with lyrics about truth, equality and freedom - the tongue-in-cheek approach is the preferred method, the ultimate goal is achieving peace through thought.

Peter Barr got to know this talented and interesting local MC on Breakfast with Barr this morning, ahead of his appearance at RTRFM's Pass the Mic gig this weekend.

To listen to tripl M.U.M's latest release - Desert Steve (out on The Community records)
