A Boy’s Short Life

Wednesday 10th September / presented by James Hall

Australia has a dark history of racism that continues to feed through to present time.

A Boy’s Short Life, a novel, attempts to present the deep-rooted antagonism that still pollutes Aussie culture by telling the story of a young Indigenous boy living in a white Anglo-centric community.

Multi award-winning co-author Anna Haebich married into a large Noongar family and now works in the Centre for Human Rights Education at Curtin University.

In many of her previous books Anna has explored the diverse effects of the fragmentation of Indigenous family and now she reveals the tragic story of one boy, which speaks for a whole race.

Following the release of her novel, with co-writer Steve Mickler, Anna joined James Hall to talk about its covert themes.
