A Decade And A Bit In The Campaign Trenches

Friday 1st July / presented by Paul Hunt

This weekend, Australians will head to the polls after eight weeks of what has been the longest election campaign in half a century. To unpack the campaign process and their own political careers, I will be joined by two Greens Senators, Christine Milne and Rachel Siewert.

Christine Milne has 11 years experience in the Australian Senate and was the first woman to lead a political party in Tasmania. With a strong reputation in developing global warming policy, her incomparable experience has helped form the Multi-Party Climate Change Committee in order to negotiate the Clean Energy Future package.

Joining Christine Milne this morning is Rachel Siewert…elected at the same time…and good friend of Christine Milne’s…Rachel Siewert was originally elected in WA at the 2004 election and is the Australian Greens spokesperson on multiple issues, including family and community services and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues.
