Acclaimed author Pip Williams returns to champion women’s history in The Bookbinder of Jericho

Australian author Pip Williams made a name for herself when she released her first work of fiction – The Dictionary of Lost Words – during the height of the COVID pandemic.

She now returns with The Bookbinder of Jericho which welcomes readers back into the richly drawn world of her debut, exploring the little-known sides of history seen through women’s eyes.

It’s a story about knowledge – who makes it, who can access it, and what is lost when it is withheld – raising questions of class and gender that remain remarkably relevant today.

Danielle Raffaele sat down with Pip Williams as part of her first ever Australia tour to chat about the success of the Oxford series.
